Uh Oh... Do I want an RSX or not?
I just got a fat raise at my job... now I make close to 2k/mo.
I went by the acura dealer... and I want an RSX. I love my teg... but its a 95, and this is 2002!!! My teg is due for a tranny, and motor rebuild @ 100k. (cur. 97k.) It's got some leaks, blemished paint & dings, and it's an RS
Im just not sure... I could fix up my teg P.H.A.T. now, but a NHBlack RSX-S with the full stock kit and alloy's is CLLEEAAN!
205/mo. -vs.- 600/mo. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Worth it???

Just buy another car, might I suggest the WRX or wait for the EVO. I belive The WRX has the most performance for the least money right now.

If can justify spending that much a month on the car.
I don't know your current living situation. But 2k a month isn't enough to make. house payment, car payment, food for family.
How much are you currently putting into savings each month? Living paycheck to paycheck is not the way to go.
Just think about it and make sure you can afford the payment and still have some money left over each month to put into saving.

that is a very big difference.. 205/mo vs 600/mo... but your insurance premium will also likely increase as the car (RSX) is newer and worth more..Im not sure how much you pay for everything else (house, home owners insurance, food, clothes, going out w/ gf, utilities, etc..) but i make considerably more than 2K/month and im not sure if i could swing all that AND a 600/car payment...
if you can justify spending an extra $395 a month plus however much your insurance goes up.. then go for it.. but as for me.. i dont think i'd do that... you know your current living situations better than i do.. so i guess if you can crunch those numbers and still have money left over to pay all your bills, AND have some for savings and investments then cool go for it.. otherwise i wouldnt..

$600/month is way too much for anything this side of $50,000, unless you're on a 3-year payment plan or something. If you really want to get a new car, use the first 6 months or so of your new raise to save up a healthy down payment.
But I'm speaking from experience when I say that there's no such thing as job security. In the current economy, just because you got a big raise this month, that doesn't mean you'll even have a job next month. The last thing anybody should be doing right now is spending every penny they make the second they cash their paycheck.
If your Integra has been well cared for, and you continue to take good care of it, there's no reason it shouldn't last you another 100,000 miles. I say just add up all the things you need to do to the car (maintenance and repairs) and all the things you want to do to the car (performance mods, etc.) and see what the grand total is. Think about taking care of those things at a rate of, say, $500/month. Then figure out how long it will take you to have your car in exactly the shape you want it, and see how that compares to how long you'll be paying for a new car.
The advantage to doing it this way? If you have some sort of emergency one month and you're paying $600 toward your new car with no money left over, you're out of luck. But, if an emergency comes up and all you were planning on spending your money on was a new header or something, no problem, the header can wait until next month.

I'd be definitely trying to get my own place to live before getting a "fat" new car.
What about actually doing something worthwhile with your money like going to college? A car is going to depreciate as soon as you start paying for it, while a college education will get you alot more in life than getting a new car.
Jeez, just turned 20 and I'm already talking like some old fart...

I am in the same boat as you. I have a 95 GSR that is just a little bit beaten, but still runs sweet and hauls *** but it is paid off compared to a car payment I dont know. But the RSX's are slow, Im sorry. I drove one, I raced against one and i was not impressed. but they are hella sweet looking, and if i got one i would be pimping though. so I am torn also.
dang man, 540/month. still alot for a rsx-s. i pay 350 for mine a month. when my payment was 450 a month. i left 2k down and my payment was set at 450 a month. for 5yrs. well on the firstpayment i was supposed to send 450, but instead i sent 650. so my next payment then went down big time. the finance comp. tried o lower my payment so they could keep thier interest. but i never send what they want. always send more then what they want. you will finish payin you car off fast and with less interest added on. good luck with your car and job. but ls had a point.a job is never secure
