Default B16 vs b18a/b for next boosted project, help me decide

I've gotten tired of my sohc set-up and want to move on to greener pastures. my dilemma is which platform to work from. i can get both motors for around the same price, i already have a gsr tranny so i just need to decide on a long block. the b16 seems like it will yield more hp at the same boost level, but ls will obviously make more torque. any one have any more insight?

yeah im thinking the same thing, biggest problem with a b16 is its still a 1.6 liter, i know they can make gobs of power when built, but a b18a/b can safely handle more boost because of the low compression.

I was in the same predicament awhile ago and decided an LS would be more suitable for me as I loved the torque!

Nah, I had intentions to do it first upon registering to this site, but I quickly changed my mind and want to go with an LS turbo. Thanks for the offer though.

boost IS TQ, if a b16 isnt as tourqey as a b18a then your not running enough boost or the proper sized turbo. and in the end you can easily make both motors make so much tq that your tire is now the limiting factor, so why give up vtec and the ability to fully utilise your b16 or gsr tranny?

good points, really the only reason im leaning more towards the b18a/b is because ive found a really good deal. In all honesty id rather find a b16 to drop in the car and turbo while i build an ls bottom end on the side...... i swear this "project" is never going to end.
