Default EP3 2004 Civic Type-R LSD - Limited Slip Diff

Has anyone fitted a Limited Slip Diff to their 2004 CTR? This car really needs one and I'm shocked that it doesn't come from the factory with one fitted! I would prefer a helical type LSD as I believe they don't need maintenance once fitted - a bit of an expensive job to take it out and put it back! I've heard they are quieter too.

I'm currently looking at the Quaife model. Anyone know much on this subject? It's hard to find much on the net about CTR's with LSD's. All I could find was a review on the Spoon clutch type one, but I will probably be keeping the car for a few years and doing a bit of tuning so don't fancy having to overhaul the LSD in a few months/years(?).

I don't have a type R unfortunately, not available in the US of course, but I do have the Quaife LSD in my '02 Si. A little on the expensive side, but worth every penny, especially if you intend on putting any significant power down. The way the car just pulls through the turns now, instead of spinning the insinde wheel is amazing. And if there is a downside to it (other than the cost) I haven't found it yet.

You might want to think about looking around for a DC5/EP3 OEM Honda Torsen axle.

The Quaife is a better differential, but the OEM Honda unit can be found for just a few hundred dollars, as opposed to quite a bit more for the Quaife.

Thanks George & Lucid

I'd tried to source the JDM unit, but haven't had any luck. I'm quite prepared to pay the price for the Quaife if it's worth it. I'm sure it will be. The labour charge is a bit painful though!

I'll let you know how I get on.

Cheers.
