Default manual vtec still work with to low oil??

I cant get my vtec to switch over, Right now I Have a 95ls ecu and the vtec solinoid wired straight to a hand held switch. when I hit the switch with the car off you can hear the solinoid working. but when Im driving and switch it dont work. could this mean that I dont have enough oil presure? I have a brand new itr oil/water pump, golden eagle vtec kit and everything else new form top to bottem running the smaller RSX filter also.

how's the oil level looking? vtec won't work if there isn't enough oil in the engine

the oil level is fine the only other thing I can think of is me putting the valve train back in the rong order. I couldent find a diagram on how the vtec works so I just made educated guess

Excuse me, but how much oil press do you have? and i did what you are doing and it doesnt work, because when you connect a hand trigger you should disconnect the ecu line to the solenoid and the ecu throw a code and then vtec doesnt work until reconnect...hope will help.

holy **** thats like 2 stages of fast and furious.....but u could just get a msd rpm activated switch when u figure out this little dilemma. Or my friend could chip your
ecu with uberdata and convert it to vtec.

have you tried revving the car to at least 3k and activating the switch while you hear if the sol. engages?.
if not do that and also measure vtec oil pressure from that oil port by the sol.

there is a dowel with an o-ring that goes underneath the center cam cap on all vtec b series motors that provides a restriction to allow enough oil pressure to push the pistons that engage the vtec lobe. if thats not installed or installed improperly vtec will not engage. In the past ive found that to be an issue with vtec not engaging.

hey thanks man for the help, but ya I got a new o-ring in there and mabey I could have wired it up rong I dont know. how I have it now is a wire from where your blue conector is to a switch and straight to the battery. dose that sound right? I guess you know me so who are you?

hmm i don't know. I'm guessing your VTEC ecu isn't working right or you dont have one? Try a different VTEC ECU. as for hardwiring your VTEC solenoid to the battery, that's ghetto fabulous. Do you have a relay or fuse on it? WHat an easy way to burn it out. You want the VTEC ecu to adjust the fuel and timing maps, its not as simple as a trigger switch on your steering wheel fast and furious style.

Huh? I don't know you

sorry, have to ask; so you gave 12v to the sol. to activate it and then checked pressure and you get 0?

i'm his friend so i'll answer

Oil pressure to the head is at 0 no matter if the VTEC solenoid is on or off.

from idle to 6k rpm ... 0 oil pressure.

The motor seems to be running fine (with the exception of vtec) so its weird

The gauge is mounted on the head, right by the vtec solenoid in the hole facing towards the radiator.

Could the RSX oil filter be causing anything weird?

i would think since you are using a smaller oil filter as in the RSX one, it would create more pressure
