Default BURNT VALVES???

Quick question ... I have a 96 gsr w/ normal bolt ons. My compression is as follows: 220 235 220 145.
This is the second time this has happend. Last time I had a burnt valve. Has anybody out there experienced the same problem. What causes this to happen. Last time the valve looked like someone took a hacksaw to it and cut pie shaped piece out of it. I'm getting ready to tear it apart again. Any input would be great!!

First off i thought 190-195 was normal compression for an B series.

Even with a destroyed valve this seems like a hugh drop in compression. Did you do compression check after you fixed the last valve?

Normal /good on b16a b18c is 240-245. 190-195 is pretty low. To get a real info on whats going on do a leak down test then you can pinpoint problem prior to pulling it apart.

try adjusting your valves first, to see if it clears anything up. If that doesnt do the job, then pour a little oil into each cylinder and give it a compression, if the results are better, then you probably have bad rings.

a burnt valve is different than a broken valve. if the last valve really did have a pie chunk missing from it, it's either making contact with the piston, or you're getting detonation. seeing as how you have an OBDII car, i highly doubt it's detonating seeing as you should have knock sensors that would prevent this.

it's been a while since i messed around with motors, but my guess would be that for whatever reason your vavle and piston are hittin the skins. the new valve could have been improperly installed, and dropped. hell, i can't remember much of anything right now......do a proper leakdown test and you'll figure out where your compression loss is coming from.
