stupid short ram intake question
no i've seen those intakes, it doesn't look anything like that. It fits pretty good and looks normal, its just that the bottom of the filter sits on the AC lines.
Also then model number on the intake matches that on the net/box/instructions etc.
I'm just wondering if maybe I didn't adjust it correctly, and the fitment is off.

You're talking about the mounting bracket that's welded to the piping. And yeah, the filter shouldn't be touching anything. I've also had an AEM short ram on my '97 EX, and the fit was perfect ... filter didn't touch anything, everything lined up, etc. So yeah, give them a call and see what's up. BTW, you're using that rubber "soft mount" for the mounting bracket, right? The bracket isn't directly bolted to the chassis?

yes, the bottom of the filter (longneck) will rest pretty close or even touch the ac lines. if you dont like it, you can slide the filter up the end of the pipe.
my question to you is this though. Did your aem pipe mount fine with the rubber 2 way screw mount? I had to bend the hell out of the top half of the rubber to get the arm on my pipe to fit.

thats odd, because i have a 97 ex also and an aem short ram. Im using the rubber 2 way bolt mount that comes with it, and the filter is pretty darn close to the ac lines if not resting on them. But this is with me barely sliding the filter onto the pipe so that the meat of the filter is resting above the circular hole in the chassis.

Yeah, when I had mine, I slid the filter ALL the way as far as I could on the piping. Worked fine for me and no rubbing issues. However, I had it back in late '02, so my memory could be failing, but this is what I remember.
Let me ask you since youre here, how was the fit of the bracket of the pipe onto the rubber mount? Like I said above, i had to bend the hell out of the top of half to rubber mount to get it to grab the bracket of the pipe. The top bolt of the rubber is now at an angle.
edit; nevermind i see you dont have the car anymore.

The bracket fit great.
I was really surprised because I had an AEM cold air before the short ram, and the fitment was horrible. But with the short ram, the mounting bracket lined up perfectly and everything. No problems with it at all.
And this I do remember clearly.

Thanks... im starting to think the previous owner of my car had an accident and lied to me. Anyway to get back on the topic
i looked at the box,
THe part number on aem short ram for a 92-00 civic ex is 22-401B B being the color of the pipe, blue in my case

the tab fits pretty good, the rubber spacer streches a little but you can't really tell by looking at it. I tried to slide the filter on further but there is a little lip inside it that I didn't think the pipe could get past.
I also had an AEM cai at first and this does seem to fit better except for this one contact spot. Oh this is brandnew. The only way it coluld be the wrong model is if they stuck the wrong sticker on it, and I doubt that happens unless they have all of them just chilling in the same room and some moron just sticks them on. Its probably on an assembly line, and a machine does it or something.

I got the filter to not touch the lines by adjusting the whole intake, but now it almost touches the hood.
did any of you put a slight dent in the end of the pipe by the TB by tightening down the hose clamps? I did

damn thats either a cheap intake or youve got some strong *** hose clamps. but getting to the question at hand, when you buy the intake you should specify if you have a front mounter battery or rear mounted. there is a differense inn shap slightly
