Alright, just dropped a jdm h22a in my 98 hb and when the ignition is turned on the Walbro fuel pump doesnt power up. Theres no power to it at all. Would this be the ecu? The ecu is a p28 with a conv harness obd2-1. We jumped the pump to another 12v and it came on.

 

Your CEL turn off after 2 seconds after turning hte key to the "ON' position?

Check the main relay. If the P28 is chipped, check the chip (bad burn/bin) and the soldering.

 

I dont think its chipped and Ive checked all fuses in and out. My first thought is that I cut into the fuel pump wire when cutting the holes for the shifter but cant tell if the wire runs through the middle of the car or to the side?

 

no wires run through the middle of the car that have anything to do with the fuel system.

 

when you turn your key to the on position your cel light should come on then shut off within a few seconds.if it stays on you have a problem somewhere.jump a wire on the cel service plug and tell us what trouble code your getting(if you dont know where this service plug is go buy a haynes manual it will help you a ton).

Not exactly. If the ECU is not getting power, the CEL light will stay on. If the ECU is bad(most of the time), the CEL will stay on. You have to figure out why the CEL is stay on. Check the ECU fuse too (15a on the fuse box).

 

All the fuses under the dash and under the hood have been pulled and checked.
The ecu looks rough and the conv harness looks rougher.

 

A guy I know said the ecu has nothing to do with the fuel pump, is this true?

 

ok, issue solved. It was a wire on the conv. harness. I pulled the harness off the ecu and a wire came out so I soldered it back and the pump comes on now. And the ecu is chipped, I looked in it and theres JUN writen in there. Anyways, thanx for the help, now I need to see why my cluster isnt lighting up and why my battery is dying so quickly.

 

glad u got that fixed..

any time u have problems from now on, always check ur conversion harness. there have been so many people (myself included) that have had problems with them.. (wires coming off and throwing codes or keeping ur car from running).

aftermarket conersion harnesses i know some are good.. but i havent seen any.

 

Thats cool. The motor runs but backfires sometimes and the cel code is still showing pcm??? Im gonna change the wires and rotor/cap and see if that helps.
