i hate to break it to you but you pretty much have the making for a really shitty gsr motor.

putting a gsr crank in an ls block is the exact opposite of the whole concept behind lsvtec.

you see the ls block has a larger stroke which is where you get the extra power over the gsr stroke. so when you put the gsr crank in a ls block, it has the same stroke as a gsr, just in a shittier block....

hope this make sense.

as far as the lsvtec "having a lot of problems" wheater it be oil or anything else, it all has to do with how the motor was built. build it well and it will preform well.

You essentially have whats known around here as a "poor mans type-r". Do a search for that and youll come up with a ton of stuff.

he is right, lsvtec done rite will not leak oil, i dont know where people get leaking oil from? unless they didnt do it rite, i built a few ls/vtec they all ran fine with me, just make sure u get the vtec oil passage on the head welded or plug and the rite fittin for the oil feed line then u should be fine,

An LS/Vtec shouldnt have anymore leaks than a normal Vtec motor.

Only thing to really leak is the Vtec plug or oil line. Just make sure it is all tight.

i would get arp rod bolts and a vtec oil pump and water pump and u will have to get a gs-r timing belt, sumone people might think u dont need to swap out oil and water pump but i do it just to be on the safe side. rod bolts is a must i say if u want to rev high

the oil line may be to small i would check that cause i know u have to use a bigger oil line when ya do the LS/VTEC swap.

definitely go for it. the only difference would be that you have the shorter stroke and .2 points less for compression. i am running this setup cause i had an ls block and picked up some gsr internals for really cheap. i threw some arp rod bolts on the gsr rods and some p30 pistons so it gave a comp around 11.5 with the omnipower flat faced valves. my setup put down 174whp and 130 ft lbs of torque just with 30 mins of tuning and i still didn't touch the cam gears. i only played with the vafc and the a/f is still pretty sloppy. ran 14.1 at the track with a 2.3 60 ft. i can definitely can get into the 13's with this setup in a heavy *** ex coupe
