Default consequences of idling with very loose lash?

Is there any particular damage that can occur to an engine that was idled wiht lash in the 30thou range for 5 minutes or so? Or does it just basically lessen lift and duration?
Im an idiot for not checking before start up a while back on a motor i had. I have some what looks like smearing o the pads, but dont konw if its form a new cam that was broken in around the time or if it could have been caused by the loose lash. Looks alomost like some of the black coating from the camshaft was transfered to the pads.

Anyone have any experiance with this? thank you.
