Default Jackson Racing Supercharger

Anyone round here have or know of anyone who has a supercharger kit on their R?

any opinions at all as opposed to NA or Turbo... not a turbo fan (dont like the loss of linearity) NA is great but big money not as much return...

i like the idea of a s/charger... have researched and found that a j/r kit can be had for 5k US, but im not sure on ease of installation(the material states that it can be DIY isntalled) how is drivability (due to its lack of lag characterised by a turbo set) and how is the "seat of the pants feel"?

any feedback would be very much appreciated... if anyo ne can help me its the gurus at H-T

There are a few R's on here with the Jackson Racing supercharger - did you try a few searches?

[edit] Search for "jrsc" in the archived topics out of the Type R forum - several results [/edit]

See http://www.dynospotracing.com/typer_mm_sc.htm for some info on what can be achieved w/ some tuning.

It's great for a daily driven car that you want about 100 hp extra (if you up the boos to about 10 psi). http://www.hondata.com/jrsc_big_boost.html

Installation isn't too hard if you have good tools and a general mechanical knowledge.

you really can't say much about it.. as small turbo kit with good manifold/wastegate and proper size parts including turbo itself can be very responsive, make more hp than suprecharger, have boost control from inside the car and just a whole lot more potential.. don't knock on turbo kits until you owned and driven one. lots of people get 600hp turbos, they're good for 600hp powerband, but its much better to have 300-350hp turbo if you're running 250hp.

I personally love the feel of supercharged R's. It makes it feel like a muscle car driving around town, and even though there is a lack of a blow off valve, there is something to be said about the whine that the supercharger makes when your flying by those Mustangs and Camaro's. I like it because there is more of a sleeper look than there would with a large intercooler hanging down from your front bumper. If you do so though, you will definitely want to invest in standalone fuel management. I would not recommend a supercharger with just a VAFC. There are many people who are on here who do so, and even though there is nothing wrong with that, you will acheive more power and a better ride with Hondata or AEM EMS and some dyno tuning. Good luck with whatever your decision may be.

A buddy of mine had one and I got the thrill of getting to drive it all night once. I loved it. It was great when little hatches wanted to try and pull on me ont he freeway. Downshift and listen to all hell let loose. I loved the sound.

But anyway, I found it very responsive, and was actually going to trade him my stock setup for it but he had already gotten rid of it. And yes I said TRADE my stock set up. He wants to put his car back to stock. Back off, his parts are mine.

No experiance with turbos. I may venture there, or stay NA.

I noticed that the High boost setup that JR offers has a hondata ECU. I don't know if you would have to get it tunned? It doesn't sound like it from the website. I have been thinking about going this route myself.

Check Jackson Racings website. You can get them a lot cheaper. Look at the high boost set up. http://www.jacksonracing.com/S...38961
Here is a site that has an itercooler for the JRSC. http://<a href="http://www.lhtperfor...ducts.html</a>
