Default EK Dash Lights Out

I've had this problem for a month now, I still can't figure this out on my EK Civic Si. The whole dash lighting system is out, including the gauge cluster light, the center console lights for the fan / ac / heater controls. Here are the symptoms, the 7.5 amp fuse for the interior lighting keeps blowing. I have checked all around behind the gauge cluster and center console to see if any exposed wires maybe touching each other or the frame. Nothing. I did an experiment and put a bigger fuse in and this is what happened. I turn the ignition key on and 1 min later, the dimmer switch next to the driver's air vent started smoking..LOL. Finally a lead..I thought.. maybe this was my problem, oh my dimmer switch is faulty.. so I purchased another one, nope. Same thing happens. So still no interior lights from the dash. Any clues or anyone with the same problem?

I would look again for any exposed wires. My guess is that you might have overlooked something.

btw: The chassis code for your car is EM1
