Default Just inherted a '94 lx with a shitload of problems....

Well my mom just told me she will be giving me the light champaigne?'94 accord with 130,000 on the clock..we bought the car in '95 brand new from honda so its not worth selling if you know what I mean after paying like $18,xxx or crazy number like that why sell it..Well Im not new to Honda's(its all I believe in since elementry) I have an '92civic cx already but here are the list of problems:
1.When it had a radio before it fried on my mom it wouldnt hold memory niether would of clock...I suspect fuse
2.Cruise Control does not work, the button lights up but its doesnt work.
3.The a/c is not even decent(probaly need r134) and only works if its on 4.
4.The antenna does not go down...but its sounds like its wants too..
5.The windows go up slow..feels like its doesnt even want to go up
6.The tach needle goes crazy
7.The car has power locks, but the make an REAL ANNOYING sound like its keeps tryng to lock itself until you hit up on the door lock button
8.Trannsmission is auto but shifts so damn hard...
9.Cv joints are shot...this has happened before though -stock car height-
10.Its makes a funny sound when you go slow in reverse comes fromthe bottom- I suspect the exhaust pipe lose and rubbing up on something.
11.Last the interior is 4/10 because the carpet it dirty and its looks like some chemical ate through it on the back driver's side, no any place of the internet with good prces the sells this...I know i can install this.
This is all for now or all I can think of, but I know atleast I am in the right place and maybe you already know what to do or you can help sugguest some idea to fix these problems....

WOW...seems like alot but nothing seems to be really wrong with the car...it seems like everything can be fixed for a little bit of money rather than a complete overhaul...good luck tho!!!

Definitely change the engine and tranny oil now. Try using some lubricant on the windows, wd40 is fine. The "funny sound" from the exhaust may be the catalytic converter's heat shield rattling; very common on accords.

You can also find replica carpets on ebay.

You need actuator locks. I had the same problem... real annoying.

things bolded are all VERY common 5th gen problems....the power antenna motor almost always fries after 100k, and that ratteling sound happnes on EVERY 5th gen accord thats ever seen a dirt road around <2krpm..thats from the heat shields over the cat and A pipe ratteling..honda never got F series auto trannies right...just dump that out and swap in a manual once it craps out..as for the lock thing, your not talking about trying to lock the doors with the drivers door open are you??...cause they wont, thats hondas little saftey feature so you wont lock your keyes in your car..check ebay for all the electrical **** you need, theres ALWAYS regulators and actuators and motors on there ALL THE TIME

welcome to the accord family

I had the same problem on a 89 Accord. I believe there is a bolt on the motor that you have to loosen in order to pull the antenna all the way out of the motor.

Once you have it pulled all the way out you will see a couple feet of nylon at the bottom of the antenna with "teeth." What happens is these teeth wear out and you have to replace the antenna because it won't retract.

It can be somewhat frustrating getting the thing back in!

Could be a dirty ground connection.

Check out http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com. They seem to have good prices on floor mats.

Could be a dirty ground connection.

Do you know this from experience? My windows go up slow as hell and need lubing every time i change my oil or wash my car. I have noticed that dirt and dust get inbetween the door panel and the doors sheet metal where all the guts of the window are at......could it just be that the window regulator gets bad ground and runs slow because of that?

As far as the windows go, you need to go out and pick up a can of silicone spray approx. $4 and put the straw on it and spray it down the window guides. It will coat the window and the guide and the window will go up and down like new. It's not a ground problem, just a little dirty and an easy fix I had the same problem on both my Accords and they are like new now. Good luck with the rest of the problems.

Well I have an update, they real annoying sound has stop because I pulled the black box of the door but thats also controlled the power door locks. The silicone spray is a good a idea, I have to take off the door panel anyway because the window has a little play.
I searched for carpet on the Internet they have some good prices but I dont think they come with the panel thats goes under each door so I might just go try a local salvage yard for a carpet,I'm lookin for leather interior because that cloth has seen better days...where is the antenna motor located..anyone has a diagram I really want to replace this..

You don't need to remove the door panels to do the silicone spray and it may even aleviate the slight play you have in the window. My driver's side window would always push forward when it went up and I would have to guide it up in order to keep it straight. Sprayed the silicone and no more movement. Don't get me wrong if you have to take it off to work on something else then tighten it up a little but may not be necessary.
