94 civic cx clock/electrical problem?
Hello,
Bought a clock for my car... it didn't have one to begin with
Put it in, plugged it in, and there's two problems with it. The time display is very dim (almost completely blank) when I turn on my headlights. Also, when I turn off the ignition & restart my car, the time resets to 1:00 (I've made sure the clock's reset button isn't being hit my the flap door). Thinking that it was malfunctioning, I asked for a replacement from the person I bought it from, and the new clock did the same thing (oops).
I don't know if the cluster dimmer **** is supposed to control the brightness, but that doesn't make a difference. As far as the resetting, it sounds like accessory power isn't getting to the clock when the engine is off, but I don't know what might be causing that problem...
Before I give up or let a honda dealer waste my money, can anyone help?
Thanks in advance
Dylan

The cluster dimmer switch does not control the clock brightness. It is supposed to dim alittle when you turn on your lights but not to the point that you can't see it.
About the re-setting i don't know what to tell you. Check your fuses and i guess. good luck.

check the 7.5 amp ECU fuse under the hood. if you're having problems with the clock keeping time and the radio, then its just a blown fuse. replace it and it should be fine
