whats the budget for getting a vehicle BARed...?

someone local told me that its about $500 for his civic CX with B18C... kinda spooks me out. is this true..? many people BARed but no $$$ listed...

Cost me $26 for the smog and $10 for the sticker. $36

I have BAR'd over 5 cars so far
