How do you get your cage certified?
I am planning on getting a cage from S&W and having a friend weld it into the car.
My question is what makes the cage certified?
The welds? the person who welded it? Or the design of the cage?
After speaking with Geoff he said it is pretty much of each one of those things that makes it certified.
But how do they tell or who in PA can actually certify the cage? Or is it the first time you go to an event they can certify it there? I don't think that would be the case but just throwing it out there.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but just trying to get some more info and guidance.

First off like geoff said it all depends on 3 things the welder, the cage and the rule book.
If you follow the rule book and design your cage then you are okay. Second step is to make sure it is welded complete meaning not half welded etc complete meaning around the full joint of each point
3rd step is to take it to your local NHRA track and talk to the tech at that location he then will get in contact with the local NHRA tech director and schedule and appointment for you to bring your car for him to look at eitehr he will pass you or fail you. There is fee associated with this process.

Is the fee like getting your car inspected pass or fail?
Also how long is the cage then certed for? Two years?

there are inspectors that go around to local race car shops and certify chassis/ cages etc. i would contact vansishing point and see when the guy is gonna be around again, so you can get your car certified while he is doing the other cars.
