That definatly is NOT normal... your asking for a slipped belt. Did you recently change it? Right belt for that block? Change the tensioner? Etc.

Run it until it tightens up.

Looks like you either have the wrong belt or you need a new tensioner. Or need to learn how to adjust it right.

If you follow the proper instructions and it still not not get tight, re follow the directions but pull up on the tensioner. This will increase the tension and fix the loose belt problem.

lol cam gears bolts slipping wouldnt cause that...that makes the actual cam move inside the cam gear, you can loosen both all the way and move the gears all you want but it wont effect the BELT!!. use your brains!!

i have had to deal with this before. the cam marks or something to that effect is way off, causing there to be a giant loose part in the middle of the cam.

al you can do is dial each cam out accordingly until the loseness is moved to where the tensioner can take t out.

i would do it, since u have cam geat just throw them back where u think they should go for the time being.

the cam horizon marks are what need to be lined up with you install the belt. they need to be side by side. put all your slack on the right side(waterpump side). it doesnt matter what happens to the adjustment bolts on the cam gears, it wont affect the tension. if you are driving and the adjustment bolts on both gears came loose...on both...and one went all the way retarded and the other advanced...the belt tension will be unchanged. and your motor would explode

if you have a shaved head, decked block, or even a thinner headgasket, you will effectively "lengthen" the timing belt. you will need to manually pull up on the tensioner. i have done this many many times. simple.

man theres too much to type. ive had this issue a few times, like the gears are cut wrong or something.with that much slack im sure u can pop another tooth over the cam gear and get it taught up there. mine were the other way tho, they weer a half tooth loose and i had to play with the cams alot until none of the marks were aligned perfectly to get the tension where it was correct. at that point since the marks arent lined up i would do a "ghetto" cam gear setiing to compensate for my shitty belt/inability to get all the marks lined up.
