Sure, why not?
You can certainly get them on the wheel, but the sidewall bulge etc., may not be optimal.

Don't think it's a good idea. I have 205/50/15 and the "tire man" ;-) sad it's the largest tire that will fit

Well, the "Tire Man" is wrong.

Ok, I guess I need to rephrase my question now that we know it will 'fit' on the rim....

Would it be beneficial, or would the 205/50/15 be just as good as choice?

Thanks!

That is the most common replacement size for the stock ITR rim.
I even use that size on my 15 x 7.5" SSR rims.

j00r gearing will become longer with 215/50/15 tires...j00r speedo will be off...and the car will ride higher off the ground...by certain amounts

it will fit but your handling/feel will suck ***

stick to the 195/55-15 - that's the optimum size for a street tire on that rim

205/50-15s feel/handle better on a 6.5"-7" rim

Hardly at all, less than 0.1 percent difference...

Tire diameter, stock 195/55-15: 23.44 inches
Tire diameter, 215/50-15: 23.46 inches

So at 100 mph, the speedo is off by less than one TENTH of 1 mph due to the tire size.

The opposite effects - shorter gearing and speedo being off and lower ride height - occur with the 205/50-15 (23.07 inches diameter. 1.6 percent smaller than stock), but the 215/50-15 is almost exactly the same as stock.

However, that doesn't mean that 215/50-15 is best. As noted above, it bulges on the stock 15x6 rim. And there are a lot more tires available in 205/50-15.

My first choice for tires on the stock rim is the stock 195/55-15 size, if they're available, and otherwise, I get the 205/50-15.

by admitting that 215 tire bulges on the stock rim j00're also admitting that the numbers j00 posted are oversimplified.

No, I was pointing out that what you claimed about changes was irrelevant (because the changes are so tiny), but that there are other reasons (quite aside from your claims) for not using the 215 tire on the stock rim.
