I am considering an ITR suspension on my 92 Civic Si.

I know that you need the rear lower control arms from an ITR, but you don't need the spindles or anything else right? Just the bare LCA?

I also want to know how high the ride height is, and if it makes sense to install some ground controls, or lowered springs in place of the stock ITR springs? I assume the parts for this set up will be close to $300.

Should I also get the ITR rear sway bar as well, or can I make do without?

Any suggestions or opinions? I am new to Civic Si's and I have already tried the search function and didn't find much info.

Decent deal. Will be a tad higher than an R (due to lighter car)

You don't need it to install the susp, but you may want it for it's handling improvements.

I got the impression he was simply talking about getting springs/shocks designed for the Type-R, and not necessarily about the 5-lug conversion.

damn that is tight.. i like that conversion alot.. when you did it did you also upgrade your brakes as well??? i want to upgrade to atleast a GSR suspension w/ 4 wheel disc brakes and gsr calipers after i get my swap..

 

a couple of years ago i had stock itr suspension in 94 si. here is a pic of one side (w/26mm rear bar)


obviously, it works. oh, IMO the best suspension you can have on a street car. works excellent. oh, and here is a side shot. could be a little lower, but all in all excellent suspension.

Yes, I plan to do this swap for street purposes only. The civic Si is my commuter. I plan to run 15 or 16 inch rims as well with this suspension setup. Any suggestions on best rims size for the street with the stock ITR shocks/springs? Did the ride height seem a little too high to you? I could always do a sport spring w/ ITR Shock set up to lower it a little, but not if it is really necessary, any opinions guys?

Is it alright if I IM you about some questions that I may have?

MIGs, your car is beautiful. I wish I could do the 5 lug conversion, but it is too expensive for me right now. That is why I am only doing an ITR shock/spring setup.

By the way, I am new to Civics guys, and I really appreciate all the help you are giving me. I was an integra guy before my car was stolen.

Where did you get your rear 26mm bar?
Is that an after market sway bar?

 

migs how low is your drop and whats the set up (springs coilover?

 

i suggets doing it all its worth it i replaced everything i have all 2000 susp brakes sway bars i replaced all the civic stuff with type R stuff and i love it handles like a dream

 

the lesft side of your tire seem to be used like hell! is this because you havent get the car on the aligment pad??

actually, the itr has slightly stiffer spring rates, but the same shock valving. so, in a lighter car (like the eg) the spring rates are perfect, at least for a well rounded street car.
