Default im new, clue me in.

hey i just picked up a free automatic 91 crx dx. it was free b/c the transmission slips, its in good condition, no rust (been garaged). it has an AFTERMARKET sunroof - yuck. so yah what shouuld i do?

a) replace auto transmission (any d series auto should work right)?

b) convert to 5spd? (any d series would work right? preferably an ex or si right?)

the issue is cost, id like to pick up a used tranny + parts, i can do the install (ive done tranmission and engine in my celica), but how much of a hastle and how much more should it cost me to convert it to 5spd than to replace it w/ an auto?

im tempted to just do a ls b series engine transmission swap, but i dont have the money yet.

whatchah all think/ i have $1000 to spend.

Definitely convert to a 5spd. Since your budget is 1000 I would go with a dseries swap like a d16a6 or a d16z6/y8 with a 5spd Si trans.

if yo uhave a grand heck most shops would do it for that price but you sound like you might be able to pull it off yourself so i vote for convert
and aim for a SI tranny heck just do a full a6 swap.

Welcome

Definately start w/ the manual swap. If you spend the money on the auto tranny, you will just want to replace it later.
