Help type R is over heating
my car is over heating. i replaced the thermo, coolent, radiator cap, set the timing back to stock. im clue less now. it happened after i put in my cam gears.
it over only over heats after i race someone. the coolent level in the resivor tank gets past the max but when the car cools down the resivor tank is still full. the coolent system isnt leaking anywhere.the lines to the resivor tank arnt clogged so now im in desprate need of some advice.

did yo properly bleed out any air bubbles in the coolant lines? maybe there's a bubble stuck in your waterpump causing it not to circulate the coolant properly?
BTW, I see you're in Jax too

should be a bleed screw just off of the engine up top where the hose goes from the engine to the radiator. Make sure you don't do it when the coolant is hot...

how about taking off the top radiator hose and putting a garden hose in there and put some pressure to it. That should force any air bubbles out of the pump.
Juss remove the rad cap when the coolant is cool enough....
then start the car to warm it up and when it starts bubbling squeeze the top and bottom rad hoses and you will see the bubbles magically appear....
Works for me.... and it does make a small mess.... seems to be the way Honda wants you to do it ......other than the squeezing...

almost certain that it is air pockets in the cooling system. It has happened to me a couple times after putting the head back onto the car, only happened when I pushed the car hard in higher rpms and heavy throttle. After I bled the system a couple times it went away. Follow the Honda procedure for bleeding the system, run the car a few minutes with rad cap removed until fan comes on a couple times. Stop engine and refill rad to bottom of rad neck, make sure over-flow tank is at proper level, then put cap on fully tightened on rad. You might have to do it a couple times to get all the air out.
