Default OT: Uggggghhhhhh!!!!!!! Idiots lights are there for a reason!

My girlfriend just called and told me the oil light on her Accord was flashing all the way to work this morning (35 miles) and she just wanted to make sure everything was okay!!!

I asked her why she didn't stop and call me immediately when it came on and she said "you drive around with your Check engine light on all the time, so I figured it was okay." Uggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!

I had her check the oil and it was bone dry. Not what I wanted to hear. I hope there's not too much damage. We'll put some oil in it, limp it home and do a compression test on it to see how bad it really is. Did I mention it's her birthday today.....

I know, I know. I was very cordial to her over the phone and didn't talk down to her or say she was dumb for not knowing the severity of the situation, but we will have a talk about gauges, warning lights and their importance this evening.

In hindsight I wish I'd spent a little time with her discussing this basic stuff in the past. Oh well, too late for that now!

I wouldn't stress too much, I was told by Chris when it's blinking that just means that the oil is low, but not out.
