Default M21 vs. BC 3+

CAM SPECS --
*Rocket motorsports M21
11.6mm lift, 274 duration (intake) 11.6mm lift, 274 duration (exhaust)
vs.
*Buddy Club spec 3+
11.4mm lift, 296 duration (intake) 11.8mm lift, 290 duration (exhaust)

THE SETUP --
*B16A2; approximately 10.8:1cr
*Will be primarily for daily driving and occasional track outings.

Engine management:
-Dyno tuned most likely w/ Hondata S200

Intake:
-stock with Hondata gasket and K&N drop in filter

Head:
-Buddy Club cam gears
-Rocket's Gen 2 valve springs, titanium retainers and flat faced valves
-AEBS head studs
-3 angle valve job and new OEM timing belt

Block:
-bored/honed to 81.5 with OS p30 pistons and new OEM bearings
-ITR oil pump

Exhaust:
-T1R SS 4-2-1 header with 2.5" collector
-SS Straight pipe
-2.5" SS Kteller piping with 16" resonator and Magnaflow oval

I'm just curious to see others opinions.
Thanks,
-Mike

P.S. - if anyone has M21 dyno sheets, please post. I have not seen a single one and no luck searching.

Uh, the M21 is a turbo cam...

M22X's are what you want.

Aquafina, will I need any other headwork, such as a P&P to run the M22s? I'm definately considering them. But, then again this will be a daily driver.

Bump

Hrmmm, how much more power can be squeezed out by adjusting the air fuel and cam timing?

from the looks of air fuel
not much more peak maybe about 3-5 with timing adjustment
but mid range will be a very big gain!

From what I've seen B16's don't like much cam. Much more than CTR's and your spinning the bitch to 9.5k before the good power kicks in.

Look at Omni's 200whp B16. Peak power was at 9.2k rpms with a profile similiar to TODA' Cs.

UPDATE:
I went with the stock injectors for now until the break in is finished for tuning and BC3+ because of the sufficient mid range in consideration of an already acquired T1R 4-2-1 header, prescribed compression ratio (CR) in correlation to the motor's approximately 10.8:1, smooth idle, advanced chill casted design technology, availability and affordability.

If I would of had a slightly higher CR and a 4-1 I would have definitely gone with Rocket's m22 cams. Only downside of the BC spec 3+ cam is the profile, the duration is a bit on the large side for a B16.

Until the next update or my next post, cheers damsels and gents!

my STOCK BLOCK and unported Head b16 made 170whp with M22s. all i did was install omnipower valves, .10 mill, m22s and AEBS manifold.

baseline was 146whp

how much compression do you pick up with a .10 mill? I want to run M22's but not sure what combination of things to up the compression...

How much do you have to rev a B16 to make good power from M22? Since M22 has 12.1 lift the BC3+ seem better for a daily driver who doesnt want to spin a bearing?

How is the primary and secondary lobe between the two cams?

to me it comes down to Billet vs. Chissled Cast Cores, Billet wins so Buddy Clubs all the way
