Default LS/VTEC question

I'm debating doing an LS/Vtec or All motor b18c1 and was wonding if you could get similar results from just putting an LS Crank and rods in a gsr block... instead of tapping an LS block for a vtec head. is there any major difference between the gsr block and ls?

I figured that an LS makes more torque due to a longer stoke but i dont really know for sure. anyone?

Pretty sure that's the difference.

LS = longer stroke.

...Although I'm not too sure if you'll be able to retain the oil squirters in the GSR block with the LS crank. Some else chime in?

yes u can with sotck internals but once u go aftermarket rods

u can't

but once u get the pistons aftermarket theere is no reason for the squirters the pistons are made of a low temp material that won't heat up

So if I choose to build up the GSR block then throwing in aftermarket LS rods and crank will give me similar results to ls/vtec?

Are there any differences in bore between LS and GSR?

Basically I'm trying to figure out what would be a better solution... I've heard a shoddy LS/Vtec job won't be reliable at all so I'm not sure if thats something I want to risk. So if I can get similar results by putting LS internals into a GSR block then that seems like the easiest way to go...?

use your b18c.
use an ls crank.
use stock ls rods.
use any b-series piston you want[pr3,p30ctr,itr whatever]
still use the b18c block girdle.

this will give you the same thing as an 'lsvtec' but you are just using a better block to start with.

^ second that. You'll get the LS/VTEC torque without the oil failure sometime attributed to LS/VTEC setups.
