My opinion is build the ls motor and turbo it..
Its 1.8 and has more torque and low end power then the b16..Although its head cant compare to a b16 head ..
For $1500 you can do some stuff..Im assuming you have the block already and that you're doing this **** your self and not paying for labor...And we're only talking about the motor now..
Weisco 9:5:1 pistons
Eagle rods(big bolt)
New honda or acl bearings
ARP rod bolts
New water pump and oil pump,timing belt ,etc...
If you haven't hit the $1500 mark yet and still have a couple hundred left balance the rotating assembly...
Thats a pretty good set-up..Now get the proper sized turbo,good fuel management and a good tuner and you can be putting down some real good numbers...
Stock block ls motors with turbo have hit the 300whp mark many times with real good tuning,,so just imagine what you can do with that set-up

if you are building an LS/Vtec vs a B16A then do the LS if its a straight LS motor I would do the B16, the b16 has more top end than the standard LS, Vtec is wonderful IMO having a honda motor without vtec just isnt any fun, I am about to buy a bored over LS/Vtec for no particualar reason cept its got a steal of a deal on it, but base LS vs. B16a, B16A all the way, its worth the money
