I have a 93 civic dx coupe and I'm getting a b18b swap w/out an ecu. I have searched and so far all I can find out is that it runs the motor lean. I came across someone saying that they have seen dynos that show it make more power than the p75 LS ecu in the upper RPMs? I just want to know how safe it is to use when racing? I plan to turbo in the future should I invest the money in a P75 ecu or just continue to use my p06 and get SAFC2?

 

send out your p06 and get it chipped for LS program.

 

isnt it cheaper just to buy a P75 ecu than get one chipped?

it all depends...you can find p06's for as cheap as $20 and chipping isn't that expensive

 

I can get a P75 for $60 will chipping my P06 cost more than $60? I think the cheapest someone offered to chip my ecu was for $80 can it be done for cheaper?

 

The only ECU's I've used in my life are p06's and no complaint.

Besides, a investing in getting your ECU chipped is ebtter then buying a virgin p75 anyway.

Do you use the stock p06 w/ the b18b?

 

No, all mine are converted to p28's and chipped to run whatever maps. I would not recommand running a stock P06 on any b18.

its going to run rather lean. it will work otherwise, it will make more top end power in some instances, but low end will suck.

as far chipping you can get DIY kit and chip it your self if you have soldering iron and whatnot. (shamless plug)

 

I wont be chipping nothing. I dont trust my work when it comes to electronics. If I race with the p06 could I damage my engine?

I'm running a chipped p06 on my b18b swap....it runs a tad bit rich, but it gets the job done. If your queezy about touching an ecu, just get a stock p75

 

I am getting my b18b swap from chad on this forum, I personally dont know him but he seems like a stright up guy that knows his stuff and he says that I should not have a problem running my P06 ecu w/ the swap and its been proven that the P06 makes power.

I've used a P75, PR4 and the P06.

The P74 and PR4's run the car the best.

I never had problems with any of them but I would always suggest the P75...then th PR4 then the P06 as a last resort.

I'm using a Pr4 now and going to chip it for my turbo setup.

 

I'll just use my P06 and see how my car runs. I have heard from a few people that it wont harm anything.

 

the p06 made the car run like crap below 4k rpms. it would sputter and bog. I now have a p75 ecu and the car runs like a champ.

 

I was gonna ask cause I am having this same issue but it looks like you fixed it mine sucks below about 3500 and then I get my power so I just need to switch ecu and I will be good?

 

Common sense answer is YES, you should use the correct ECU. Seeing that you're new here you should pay a visit to the FAQ and Forum Rules section.
