Default New to HT...Exhaust suggestions for a noob 02 Civic Si

Hey all whats up? I am new to the boards, new to the Honda world, thought I would make my first post and introduce myself. Purchased my first Honda about 5 months ago, a 2002 Honda Civic Si and I love it. I guess I got bit by the performance/mod bug because of my buddy and his Suburu SVX club. Not really into the SVX's myself though. Car is a daily driver, but I am slowly working on it. I can post pics later if anybody is interested, not much heat though, not like some of the big timers on the board here. I am up in the Seattle area, so if there are any Seattle area heads up here, hit me up.

Anyways I wanted to get some suggestions on some exhaust for my ride. I was looking at the Injen and the Greddy, but should I go with a new system, or keep the stock and go with a universal muffler? Suggetions or advice is appreciated. I am learning as I go. Peace

if you want to get started, get an intake first. your exhaust is not your primary constraint. unless you want to announce to the world that you have a "modded" car.

you should get new suspension first...at least i would. i got springs and strut bars first and they are much more of a difference than my intake, header or exhaust. of course i/h/e combined is cool.

Good idea but I would go with a ITR rear sway bar. As for exhuast HKS or Greddy.

yeah, i've been looking at a new rear sway. the hks and greddy are always a sound decision, but there are other options out there that have more appeal. at least to me.

Great thanks for the info.

I actually lowered the car when i bought it (through LS), and got rims/wheels for it, its 1" in the front and 1.5" in the back to "even it out"

As for sway/strut bars, not sure there. Like i said gotta get under there and see what the previous owner had installed\(if anything). I my gut tells me there are no sways under there. Gotta do some more research, not that familiar with sways and struts.....hey I am a noob afterall

Ok back on subject....LOL thanks for the exhaust tips

upgrade to a 2 1.4 inch midpipe but leave the cat on or it will sound raspy. this setup will sound stock unless u rip it.

Best performance exhaust: race header (not legal in all states - it removes the cat) and a midpipe of some sort - stock RSX-S will work just fine, 2.25-2.5" custom job will work, too.
Then reuse the stock muffler.
I have that setup and put down 159whp. Not too shabby. Plus, the whole setup cost me around $200 (after selling my comptech, which was loud and served no real purpose).

A new rear sway bar is a must. Pick up an RSX-S one from clubrsx.com or go even bigger. Lots of vendors on here sell them. It will noticeably improve handling and won't hurt your wallet.
