also will the 96-98 ex 5 spd cabin harness work in the 97 cx hatch, like will it hook up to everything?

you will need to do some wiring if you decide to use 99-00 climate control.

what exactly are you trying to do? if you're doing the climate control conversion, you DON'T need the 99-00 dash harness. you'll need the climate control harness (and other little **** like the tubes, hoses, etc...). that's it. all plug and play. no wiring needed. trust me, i've done it. unlike most people, i'm speaking of experience.

i bet someone's gonna tell me i'm wrong....

Could you use a automatic EX harness on a DX 5 speed with b16?

actually you are wrong and Im talking from experience also you will need to do wiring if you want your rear defroster to work. sure its only 1 wire but it still counts . for some step by step instructions here is my install.

yeah that wont matter. the cx cabin harness would have worked but it doesnt matter. the si cluster will plug right in.

my cx cabin and engine harness is all cut to ****. so if i get a 96-98 ex 5 spd cabin and engine harness and i already have the 97 cx, 99 gauge cluster, and a 99 built b16a2, i should have no problems wiring all this up, right?

well it depends. a minute agou I thought you were wanting to convert the entire dash. are you just wanting to put a si gauge cluster in there and stick with your current dash?

The cluster should be plug 'n play
This is the best write up on a dash or climate control swap I've seen on here though:
