Default turbo

If i get a turbo, and wanted to run only 6psi on my 98.. how would it run without building up the engine? It will be my daily driver keep in mind..
Is there a high risk involved with running a stock prelude +6psi or is it reletivly safe.

What else would be needed.. blow of valve and intercooler.. that it?(just 6psi)

thanks

I'm in the process of building a custom turbo myself...to run a turbo safely, I would recommend a J&S safeguard, keep in mind that I don't know much about turbo myself...but from what I hear, $500 is better spent than blowing up a motor. Tuning has a lot to do with running a safe turbo setup. Things like intercooler and oil cooler aren't neccessary but they do make it "safer" even at a low psi such as 6. Ask around and see what people have and you'll see for yourself what most people have and what they do to run it safe...

hey man,

there are plenty of turboed ludes around man, some go as high as 12 psi on tuning alone, but Iw ouldn't ever recommend it to u tho.

Personally, there are very reputeable companies that have kits for the lude running 6psi on stock internals and they hvae spent alot of money on RnD for these kits. After much discussion I was able to find out that at about 10 psi Conrods will usually be the first to go, but 8 to 9 psi is still safe on a completely stock bottom end. The key is tuning, to be more precise, giving the car enough fuel to meet the amoutn it needs under boost.

hope that helps

good quality Wastegate, I've heard that TIAL is the best WG and that Turbonetics Deltagate is the worst

Everyone gave good answer to make it safe. I would also recommend a open loop PCV system, tune-up, and exhaust system. You can't increase turbo gains with a resrtictive exhaut...

Just wondering, in your opinion...whats the best turbo for the money? Whats the cheapest turbo? I'm running REALLY low on cash, but I still want the speed.
thanks
