Rebuild question, about pistons, rods, and block gaurd.
<U>I searched</U>...didnt get what I was looking for.
I have a B16 in my car now. Motor runs perfect with 55k on the swap. I'm going boost and want to put CP pistons, eagle rods, new ACL or OEM rod bearings, and a block guard in.
Question - I want to keep the motor in the car and just install everything by dropping the oil pan. (I have no garage or engine stand, and dont feel like pulling the motor, keep your comments to yourself.)
1.) Will I need to get the cylinder walls honed so that the piston/rings mate to the walls properly?
2.) Will the crank need to be micropolished or anything for the need rods/bearings?
3.) Anyone know where to get aftermarker head gaskets.. I.E. - Cometic.

I'm rebuliding my b16 the same way. Use a flex ball hone to better seat the rings.
I wouldn't think you would need to do the crank unless it needs it. With 55k miles i doubt it. As for the headgaskets sorry i dont know anywhere but OEM.

Where did you get a flex ball honer? Shouldnt the block me honed to spec? Dont want to shave off to much, will lead to problems later on or right away.

My grandpa had one. I'm just smoothing my block out. I'm not going crazy with it and boreing it out. Just enough to make the rings seat better. I'm still rebuilding but I'm documenting the whole thing for a huge Honda-Tech write up. I'll be posting maybe Mid-March we''l see though. Good Luck wih your rebuild.

In the tech/misc forum I believe they have several threads on block guards. I think the general concensus on it is that if you put one in you NEED the cylinder walls honed/bored because it warps them slightly and basically you are asking for trouble by installing one and not properly re-treating the bottom end for it.
