Icon2 piston installation Q:

hey guys and girls, im rebuilding my engine for the first time. i have a shop manual and it says to make sure that all pistons and rods go back in thier respective cylinders. i placed my rods(pistons attached) in ziplock bags, marked according to thier cylinder number. i took the rods to get resized, but the machinest mixed all of the rods and now i have no clue which rod/piston goes in what cylinder.

to the question: what happens if i install them in different cylinders?

thanks for reading!

nothing. if you got new rings and the block freshly honed your good. it doesnt matter what piston you put where. as long as they are within spec this goes the same with the rods... i would suggest you plastigauge the rods to check clearances and be sure they are ok. if you do all that you should be fine. if you skip these tasks you run the risk of blowing your motor up

question was answered in another thread.

answer: the rod journal would be the only reason to keep rods with corresponding cylinder, but since i had my rods resized and bought new bearings, it doesnt matter what cylinder they go back in.
