Clunk! (rear end sounds)
As you know i bought a s2000 rebuild project. (if not you know now) The left 1/2 shaft was missing when i got it and had probably been off for a year or two. I reinstalled every thing according the the Honda service manual.
So i went for my first ride in freezing cold Ohio today. (despite the problems it was awesome
) When i put it in gear and give it a very little go it clunks in the back and jumps a little. Any ideas?
Thanks.

I had that sound and it was the rear drivers side axle nut.All I did was tighten the nut then the clunk sound went away.

Wrong. The spindle nut is also 36mm, and the honda manual was wrong. (honda misprint?)

Hmm. On my FC I had the same issue, it sounds like. It would have a "thunk" feeling to it when I'd let off the gas, and even when I'd BARELY let on the gas. I had the rear diff mounts replaced, and even the rear diff pinion gear seal, since it was leaking... Still did it. Shop guy is like "Oh, it's yours struts! Tighten them up, they're adjustable, right?" WRONG.
On an older car, I'd suggest that the problem be the subframe bushings...but on that new of a car? I say it's your diff mounts.
Put the car on a lift, and shift it through the gears, if the diff goes up and down...lol, go from there.

as far as I could tell, the yoke flange, that's about it.
