Default Anyone know where I can get my other car "SMOGGED" in San Diego??

My family is having some financial problems right now.. That's why I'm selling my baby... But I have a 92 vx in the garage and it wont pass visual but I need something to drive for a few months. I was wondering if anyone knows anywhere I can go in the San Diego area that would "Pass" me.

Thanks..

Why won't it pass visual, why do you not sell it "as is"?

I'm selling my EX because we need money. I am keeping the hatch though so I can still get back and forth to work until our financial problems are taken care of.

It wont pass visual because it has a LS swap and hasn't been reffed. I know that it doesnt have all the proper smog equipment on it right now and I really cant afford to do it all. I would be able to do it in a few months but for now I just need to get the car smogged and registered.

Somebody must know somewhere where I can kick down some money under the table or something... Let me know please.. thanks.

That sucks that you don't have the money to do it right now, you can go to the DMV and tell them your problem (or over the phone) and they usually give you a nice pink sticker.

I'll try that but the problem is I cant keep getting those stickers. I've done that before and they wont keep giving you extensions if you dont make any progress. I dont know exactly how long I'm going to be in this situation.

Well, time to play big brother.

If you have the money to pay someone under the table, you have the money to fix the car. or "make progress"

<---took me 6 months to get my Civic to pass.

not really... Because all the stuff that I actually need is gonna cost more $$$ than getting the car smogged. I need an o2 sensor, legal header, cat, airbox, TPS, USDM ECU and intake manifold, and ref time. That would be all for the car to pass SMOG and if it will pass the sniffer..... I think it would though after all that.

It took me 2 months to get my civic reffed and about a grand. I know damn well that I can pay someone way less than a grand to pass it for now. I dont do things like that, obviously.. Since I do have a totally legal civic that I'm selling.. but hard times call for things like this.. Anyway, there's nothing to argue with you about.. I'm just asking my initial question and if anyone can help then cool.. if not.. Then I'm screwed after my pink sticker expires.

it took you two months and $1000 to get your civic REFed? wtf?
did you have some stranger fix everything for you or something?

a friend of mine here in SD who got his EF w/ an OBD2 JDM B18C (gsr) REFed spending a few hundred bucks on parts, and a couple of days under the hood.

and btw, um, IMO, using a public forum (and there are one or two known police officers who are members here on H-T, btw) to ask where to find shops that will do illegal things for you is probably the most useless post ev4r.
if someone was stupid enough to answer your question here and provide you with the name of the shop here on this public forum, you'd have the feds sniping for that shop in a heartbeat.
