Help, Weird engine noises with built freshly built motor.
So here is the deal, I just recently rebuilt my motor, b20 stock sleeves, eagle rods, 11:1 flat top arias pistons, b16 head, b16 tranny, aeromotive fpr, etc. Fuel pressure is set to 40 psi. Timing is at stock. I'm running a chipped p28 for now, map is a little right in the 12.5:1 range on the innovative lm-1. The car runs perfect, has about 300 miles on it. Compression check reads out at 180 accross all 4 cylinders. However, the head is making a lot of noise. Valve lash was adjusted twice. It kinda sounds like a diesel truck in a way, like a loud purring. Noise does not get louder under load and the sound does kind of decrease after the motor get's hot. I'm really stumped as to what it is. I'm kinda leaning towards LMA's but I would like to get some more suggestions before i go out and spend 300 bucks. Any help would be much appreciated.
it sounds like the lma's.
do this;
rev the engine to at least 3k and jump the vtec sol. to manually activate vtec; if noise stops then its the lma's
