Strange noise comeing from engine bay
My friend has a fully built h22 motor with crower rods/rollerwave pistons, golden eagel sleeves...etc. When he turns on his car it sounds like a clapping noise comeing from the block. Is anything wrong or is this normal for having forged internals?

Yes, to a certain extent, assuming the motor was built correctly, and the correct amount of piston to wall clearance was done, then yes it is normal. They warm up and expand a little.
It only does it when it's cold right?

Re: Strange noise comeing from engine bay (DFW)
My motor does that sound and the **** is really loud, well i considered it loud anyway. But it seem to quite down a little once warm, im still able to hear it while im driving at around 2400 rpm but not noticable at other rpm. I assume my motor is build right tho, compression number seem to be on target...I also have a little over 1000 miles on the engine and it still making noise, am i going to live with it or it going to quite down some more???

my engine does this too...it is loud when cold...but quites down when it gets Good and warm...im worreied about mine too cause u still can hear it a lil when hot...good compression numbers...6% leakdown when hot....forged pistons only engine mod...oh and mild porting too

mine does it too...fully built 2.0 liter bottom end and fully built head...
my DSM friends are all telling me my valves are bent, but i just keep telling them its a honda sound...ive had two other hondas, they've all made the same sound and ive heard many other hondas making that same sound as well..

I think the noise is there no matter if it's cold or hot. It might be less noticeable when it's hot but definitely still there. Well, at least for my car it is. The sound always freaks me out bc it sounds like a freakin diesel truck or an engine that's about to explode.

Hey everyone this is my car, I just got off work so i had "dfw" make me a thread.
he got some of the info wrong, so heres the set up:
-89mm bore
-ge sleeves
-manley/full race rods
-9:1 rollerwave pistons
but yeah, like he said im going to carefully listen to it tom. ive had the motor in and running for a while, but havent started to drive on it alot until lately (when it got colder) it probably has 2,1XX miles on it(awaiting a couple of parts) but yeah im going to get a compression test very soon, does anyone know where the #'s should be at?
