Default Atlanta Tour/Pro Question

So I know Gwinnett has pretty hefty sound rules (95db?) in place for the Tour and Pro. Can anyone tell me if the db meter will be set up for the practice course on Friday before the Tour? It would be nice to know about any issues before a DSQ on Saturday. TIA!

It should be. Thats the only way I'm going to be able to test since I won't be at the first local event.

edit: actually yes it has to be because it will be there for EVERY single event that is done there. I just remembered this from our meeting discussion the other night.

Exellent, I've got a feeling some members of Team Underdog may be visiting a local muffler shop Friday night!

Prepare something before you get here. With local businesses being busy most won't have time to do something that fast.

If the San Diego Tour is any indication (they have had sound control there for years), Home Depot and Lowe's will be very busy. Dryer tubing can be used to direct the exhaust note away from the meter. Ugly but effective and cheap.

So, we won't see the famous Hollis exhaust dump in Atlanta, will we?

If I go, I was thinking about packing a bolt-on resonated tip just in case I need it. But, dryer tubing redirection would work equally as well I'd assume.

I've got about 6 feet of dryer ducting left. I'll bring some for all of us if we need it.

Hey now! I know it sounds like ***!

No, my plan is to run my somewhat heavier Supertrapp setup which allows the obnoxiousness to be dialed up or down via plate count. With enough practice runs on Friday, I hope to zero in on the "borderline obnoxious" level.

anyone in gwinnett ... i HIGHLY recommend Andy's Muffler off of 124 right where it meets 78. they did my VW and the guy Nick that does imports is one of the best. his welding is insane! and how they lift the cars will be fine for race cars cause they got the jetta up there and the jetta is insanely low.

hope it helps!

Just out of curiosity, is there anythign keeping someone who's been racing for half a season from racing, besides the embaressment?

I'll be there for the evo school, the the solo the day after. Some of you guys should come over to bham and steal our trophies, I mean race with us. The only guy that I've seen...Barry I think, black 91 Si. We've got a great course designer, short courses are 65 sec's...

I would if I didn't have so many events already scheduled. I'm looking for which events I could drop right now just to make things a little less busy during the season.

I've heard you guys have a huge lot too.

I might just do that...what's the drive to Birmingham from Atlanta?...about two hours or so? more importantly, what's the Street-Mod competition like ?

I've already started to plan a driving trip for work to visit clients in the HOTlanta area for this year's tour event (nothing like getting someone else to pay for your travel and lodging ), I wonder if I can stretch it into Alabama? Whats the date on the event out there?

Newbies will enjoy the "hugeness" of the Tour. Don't worry about the level of competition, just come to experience it all and have fun. STS is a great group of folks all over this country.

And the Pro Solo is a completely unique format that is tons of fun. Where else can you make four runs, take a break and study what you did, make some changes in your driving and/or setup, make four more runs, do the analysis again and sleep on it, and then four more runs. And the drag start thing is a real adrenaline booster.

Try either/both events. You won't be sorry.

SM, a couple of fast mustangs, a few WRX's, a DOHC ZC W/ jackson CRX. One of those 'stangs is putting out ~600WHP, still manages to be fast though. Let me know when you're planning on coming down and I'll give you a date, or http://alscca.org

Here's last novmber, one of our faster courses http://www.unix.eng.ua.edu/~mb...b.wmv

Andy's post mirrors what I would say. I have to say if you could only choose one of the 2 events though it'd be the prosolo. After doing my first last year I was amazed at how much fun it was. The different format and drag launch make it that much more interesting. I'll be hoping for a dry weekend this year though so the subarus don't kill us.

2003 I did my first tour. It was so much fun because I had no expectations going into it. Did my 2nd and 3rd tours last year and were just as fun. They're much more exciting than a local competition.

STS is also a great group which is why I love driving in the class.

sounds like some people are having fun down there! I'd be pretty out-gunned, but I may try to make it down for one this year...I'll even drag Ryan12321 with me...if he wants to co-drive my POS
