Default Dyno comparision: Rocket Motorsports M22 vs Skunk2 Pro 1's

I finally got a chance to do a dyno comparision between the Rocket M22's and the Skunk2 Pro 1's that Tbone had left at the shop for me to test. For off, here are the specs on my engine:

86mm bore x 87mm stroke
11.5~12:1 compression
Portflow cnc ported pr3 head, spot faced combustion chambers to 86mm
RM springs/retainers
Ferrea Standard size valves
TWM 52mm ITB's
DTR Fab 2.0 liter header
2.5" exhaust
Neptune tuned

Here are the results:

Solid lines are the Pro1's, dotted lines are the M22's.

Here is the graphs in another viewing mode:

Purple lines are Pro1's, Blue lines are M22's.

Tuning between the cams was kept at the same a/f (12.5:1), coolant temperature and intake air temperature. Both cams were fully tuned, getting the absolute most out of each cam. The Pro1's cam gear adjustment was at 0-I, -1-E. M22's were 0,0 (made best power there). Pro1's beat the M22's down low, and low-midrange. Both cams were nearly identical up top (m22's having the slight edge). Having said that, the M22's are a great drop-in camshaft that doesnt require extensive tuning in order for proper idle and drivabilty out of the primary lobe.

Stay tuned for an AIR manifold vs TWM and Jenvey comparision soon. Also, some more cam testing will be done whenever Tbone gets me some more cams.

very nice! its awesome that people on HT will take their time to dyno parts like cams, intake manifolds, and headers, and give the info to fellow HT members.

cant wait to see some more cams thrown in the mix like the m24's and other skunk2 ones comin out.

i REALLY cant wait to see the AIR manifold, TWM, jenevy dyno's!!!!!!

do you know if there would be any testin on 1.8 liters?...i know these cams would work good in 1.8 liters too, but i just want to know how much power these cams can make in a 1.8...also does the bigger displacement give alot more HP and torque, or just minimal HP and alot more torque?

...oh and thanks for the comparison...i love it when you guys do this for the HT community...

Jeff, thanks for doing the tests. Good number from both cams. Are you and Tom up for testing the M24's against the Buddyclub IV's?

Pro1s measure out @ .494 lift, and 257 dur@ .040 Intake. .466 lift and 259 duration @ .040 Ex. 1.8 GSR runs will be up shortly.

Is it just me or are there definate "waves" to the torque curve about every 800 rpm? Would some/most of that be due to resonant tuning due to the ITB's length?

This is the first dyno I have seen that showed such a trend, but maybe some of you have seen similar results. Anyone seen this with a standard GS-R or ITR mani?

What is the length of the of the ITB's from head flange to trumpet? I would like to compare that to the calcs I have run for frequency tuning...

Thanks,
Adrian

does that mean 12.54 lift on the intake cam?? that's like toda C status with less duration

edit: and hot damn, 86mm bore..i can't wait for the 1.8 dynosheets.

might be a fair matchup if we see some m24x's instead of the m22's, which are like 12.1 lift.
