how do you remove retaining nut from steering wheel?
hey everyone im trying to take off my stock steering wheel (to install my quick release wheel kit) i do have a haynes manual and all it says is to remove retaining nut (no pit) well i tried with a 19mm nut but the nut will not budge.......so can anyone give me any pointers???
Make sure the wheel is at full lock, then using a nice size wrench (18" should do) give it a spin. You may have to hold onto the wheel and stop it from trying to spin as this way you are not putting as much stress on the locking mechanism.
It really helps to use a 19 mm deep socket. I used my 2 foot breaker bar and held it with one hand. I also used some penetrating oil ,which helped greatly.
the manual says not to use the steering lock. it seemed pretty certain when i read it. but as we say at work "hey its not my car" it is a 19mm and there is no trick in taking it off but turning it.
ok i got the retaining bolt off......now would anyone happen to know how to install a quick release hub kit?
