2000 Accord Transmission
My sister has an auto 2000 Accord LX and now she is suddenly having transmission problems. I did a search and found that it is a common problem from 98-01. I also read that honda has extended its warranty to 100k miles for the tranmission. She went to the dealership and they told her it would cost $2800. What I want to know is would this 2800 be the cost under the warranty or does it sounds like its not being honored in her case? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I forgot to mentioned they said it was not a common problem at the dealership.
AFAIK, you shouldn't have to pay anything if her car is covered under that warranty. (I don't know the details of the warranty, since I, nor anyone I know personally, has had any problems with their auto.) Someone else in this forum had their tranny replaced, at absolutely no cost to him, but I forgot who it was. Hopefully, he'll chime in.
The best thing you can do is call another dealer with the VIN number and see if it even falles under the extended warranty. As far as I know its not a re-call they just extended the warranty if it needs replaced. If there are no problems they don't replace it, hence its not a re-call. Also if its just the solenoids needing replaced those are not part of it also nether is changing the fluid.
I figured that if it was covered under the warranty that she wouldnt have to pay anything either. I hope whoever you speak up comes in because I'm tired of hearing my sister complain about it.
Read my recent post. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1141519
The extended warranty applies to all 2000 and 2001 Accord automatics. If you have < 100,000 miles, it will be replaced at absolutely no charge to you. if you have > 100k miles, but not by much, it may still be free or at least free trans and you only pay labor.
If this is not what you are hearing from your dealer, he is lying to you. I complained about a little whistle in my trans at 64k miles, and 2 days later it was returned to me with a new trans, no questions asked.
Either find another dealer or report that one to Honda Customer Service - you will end up with a new trans.

Isnt the 2000 and 2001 7 year/100,000 mile whichever is first? Or is it just 100,000 miles? and does the warranty transfer to a new owner if it is purchased from the original owner?
