Does anyone know for sure if, when adding an aftermarket steering wheel to a car with a factory airbag, the passenger airbag is also disabled?

I have heard conflicting reports on this. Some say when the SRS light is triggered, the airbags are all disabled. Others say that even with the light on, they have friends or have "heard" that the passenger airbag will still go off in the event of an accident.

Does anyone have any concrete info on this?
