So, your saying "just" the resonator will be quiter than "just" the muffler?

i first had just a resonator on and it was freaking too loud... almost as if i had just the pipe.. i have not cat either.
then i added a mafnaflow. its still loud but it helped a lot. i think it quieted it down about as much as the resonator did. approx.

I put a magnaflow round 4" x 14" on my car.. it did NOTHING! .. I replaced it with a 5x8x14" maganaflow, now the car is almost to quite..
Well it sounds like you want something for the tunnel, so the ovals won't fit. You can run 14", 18" or 22" in the 2-1/2" size. I use 22" for my street exhausts and 18" for race cars. You can go up to 26" in 2-1/4" but you didn't state the size of your exhaust.
I am running (2) magnaflow 4" round with 2.5" piping the first one is 14" long and the second is 22"long. It was really quiet at first but now it's breaking in and getting louder but not un-streetable IMO.

...and here's another hint. Look for a "scratch and dent" sales. These guys will sell then next to nothing when they are scratched up or dented. Go to your local cycle dealer and check ebay. The only thing is that some are bolt on versus clamp on. So, you have to fabricate an attachment piece to make them work.

correct.
In our EK, we had to run 2 muffler because of this. I'm going back to a resonator and muffler, since they are lighter.

thanks guys well my piping is 2 1/2 and i want to run a turn down under the car ... i'm going to try to run just a resonator and hear how it sounds...
yea itacrx thanks i'll be sure to look into scratched and dented ones because i know the new ones are a lot..

On my supercharged 2 liter engine, I have 2.5" piping with 2 14" long 4" round resonators, and its annoying for the street, but probably fine for the track.. I'm looking for something else to quiet it down, so I'll probably go with Lee's suggestion and try a bike muffler instead of one of the resonators..
