Default stock 81mm block vs 84mm head

Well I am searching for an answer for a little problem i'm having. I am running a stock GSR right now. I was looking into buying a head from someone on here. The head is a 2001 GSR head, ported and polished by portflow, all stock internal but the thing is, it has 84mm combustion chambers. So my question is would it work with that head on a stock GSR bottom end? Maybe a different kind of head gasket? I don't know, so I need some professionla opinions as i'm gettin some diff answers lately

Its not perfect but it will work just fine. The chamber volume may be a little bigger than a stocker unless they surfaced it to compensate. The stock head gasket will work fine.

everything will work just fine. keep in mind you head gasket has to match your bottem end and not the head.

However, this is sub-par to the inverse - which is 84 mm bore w/ 81 mm chambers.

81mm block/ 84mm combustion chamber

IMO I wouldn't do it, you do not want to have bigger combustion chambers than your bore. You end up having problems with the head gasket sealing, and not only that but now you will have a pocket for carbon to build up!

IMO

Ask the nonvtec guys why you wouldn't put a P8R head on a LS Block!

I would just sell your GSR block, ppl will buy it for $500-$800. Then go get you a B20 block $250-350. Next just change the bearings and get 8mm ARP rod bolts, and some aftermarket pistons. Now your GSR head will fit perfect on a B20 block and will cost you little out of pocket to make the change over, and you will have gained .2 liters, and 2mm of stroke!

I could do that but the thing is I don't wanna have any down time so I was gonna get another head to avoid that problem. <ChaseIntegra

Nah, the head is a $1000 I can use else where, it's not what i'm looking for. But if someone else out there has an 84mm block, the head is a steal!
