Default D15Bvtec fuel problem? Or timing?

I just finished up my obd1 d15b vtec swap and the car wont start. Its getting good spark and its getting fuel, but it wont kick over. Cranks just fine but never rolls over...and i hear a puttering sound from the exhaust every few seconds. The timing seems to be right too. I took out the plugs & wires and rested them on the valve cover to watch the spark, and the firing order is right.....sooooo im out of ideas. The only thing left i could think of would be maybe its getting TOO MUCH fuel. If anyone has any ideas of what could be wrong throw em at me! thanks in advance Oh, and im also using a 92-95 civic dizzy, not positive its vtec...but the car should still start regardless.

Do a compression test...

check all the grounds. that was what happened to me. also what ecu are you using? my point being the ecu needs to match the dist.. you can try to spray some wd40 or some other accelerant into the tb while trying to crank it. if it starts then its not getting fuel.

If this is an engine that has not run in a while,
Pour one or two tablespoons of motor oil in each cylinder
through the spark plug holes then spin it over..

If an engine sits up too long,
all the oil will drain off of the piston rings
and it will lose compression.

alright, well i put some oil down through the plug holes...still doesnt start. I checked all the grounds that i know of. My ecu is a p28, and the dizzy is supposedly off of a z6 motor, but only 2 of the mounting holes line up. I was told it should be an exact fit for the PO8 head, which i have. What im wondering is whether or not this dizzy is off of a d16z6 motor or a 92-95 non vtec. Would that make any difference? the 3rd hole closest to the engine bay is off by about 1 cm.

I just swapped a obd2 d15b vtec in a friends car and I used his old dx non vtec distributor and everything lined up and it runs perfect!]

I think sohc distributors are interchangeable..might be wrong

I would double check the firing order...

are you sure the timing is on? you could be 180 out. When I did my obd1 d15b swap in my rex i used a z6 dizzy and it lined up fine.

You cant be 180 out the distributor will only fit into the cam one way. Plus all you have to do is line up the 2 lines on the distributor itself.
