I Need some help quick
well I was on my way to work this morning driving normal down the highway nothing different had the car in 5th gear. After crusing for about 15 minutes my gear fell out of the 5th into neutral. I thought nothing of it and procedded to put it back in 5th. I did so and it seemed fine for a sec then it poped out again. I could not get it to stay in fifth so I had to basically hold it in gear while driving down the road. Does anyone know the reason why it might do this or how do fix it or even what might have caused it. This freaking sux.... all the other gears seem fine and stay in those gears just 5th is a problem. Never had any problems what so ever with my transmission and I don't race this car. I notice nothing different when going into 5th just won't stay. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Search for the sameproblem with bbasso (robs) name in there. He had the same problem not too long ago. His gears were popping out at the track and what not.
I am in class right now or I would search for it for you.

Have not had a chance to check the fluid level though I will as soon as I get home. I will look and read about what happened with Rob. Thanks for the help thus far fellas.

I just don't see how it could be the syncro especially the 5th gear one. I don't ever dog my car since it is not tuned yet. So I'm kinda dumbfounded. After reading his post looks like it was some internal tranny problems.
I have the same exact problem. I checked out that other thread too, it's totally inconclusive.
My solution:
buy new trans. I'll be purchasing a brand new one in a few weeks, and later I'll tear into mine and find the root cause of the popping out of gear. I suspect:
1.) balk ring
2.) bent 5th/reverse fork
3.) bad gear/synchro
I've heard that having the fluid low causes this because 5th gear needs the fluid level to be up at normal level so it doesn't go dry since it's up higher in elevation from the other gears. I checked mine, the fluid level is fine.

Thanks for the info, I'm so hoping that it is my level. I just changed out and axel and did loose some fluid so maybe mine is just low. I will change it out tonight and hope for the best. Damn I hope it is that lol
WELL I got home tonight and checked my tranny fluid and it was really low. So I put some in filled it to the top and took it for a test drive. for now it seemed to work though i still don't understand how adding fluid can make the car stay in gear but whatever just as long as it worked. Thanks to all that put some input and if anyone can help me grasp why it worked please do so.
