shifter....
sorry im a noob to 5sp. i just picked up a 1991 civic hatch 5sp.
i dont know jack **** aobut manual anything, ive always had autos.
anyways when i put it in gear, i am still able to move it left and right(the shifter). which is confusing because i thought it wasnt supposed to do that. sometimes i think im in neutral, but im not.
is it the bushings? i was gonna replace them anyways, anyone know where to get cheap/good ones?

yah its bushings. my old 87 civic was like this, you'll get used to it. Also, you will begin to love manual transmissions, you will. Even new and perfect, there should still be around an inch of sideways play (1/2" in each direction). There's probably two problems, the ball seat for the shifter, and the bottom bushing in the shifter that connects to the shift rod. Check those bushings and see.
I put some bushings in my crx from neuspeed I think I got them at http://www.neuspeed.com they where real cheap and helped alot
same thing happened in autos in il today a honda rolled in and the shifter can move like its in nuetral in every gear id say go but a short shifter and it comes with bearings and stuff but if u dont want to do that then im thinking just tighten up that bolt and inspect the ****
