redline not consistant?????
i have a b16 in my crx and i searched everywhere nobody knows....my car's redline is not consistant sometimes it redlines at 7800 other times 8200 and sometimes 7000....and when im racing this is a real problem plus im hitting redline hard can this hurt my engine??? i need to solve this problem a.s.a.p. if anyone can help please tell me
i don't quite understand what you are saying. Does a rev limiter kick in at those random rpm's? If so it might just be the innacurracy of a stock gauge. Especially if it is one out of an HF that is normally made to only go up to 5k? Other than that are you throwing any codes anything like that?

no you can feel the difference.......and yeah the rev limiter kicks in at random times......and the check engine light is on most of the time...but i dont know the code....
well you need to check the code cause that could affect a lot of things as far as vtec engaging, the redline the motor will have, and the list goes on. Figure that out first and then get back to us.
and its probably not a good idea to continue to take your car up to redline if you have check engine lights coming on

If you have an obd-0 ecu you should see the the LED at the ecu blinking a red light, count how many times it blinks and get back to us. About the redline, I believe it is the same, its just that your tach is really inaccurate.
I put a tach in my car (installed a 90-91 guage cluster) and that thing is REALLY inaccurate. The tach will say 7500 rpm and when I look at my V-AFC it says a max rpm of 6000. I know the V-AFC is more accurate because that goes directly into the ecu. <U>I beleive its your tach thats inaccurate, and not your redline changing.</U>
