Default Ball Bearing, is it worth the money?

I am planning on buying the Gen 3 Drag Turbo Kit or the Stage 2 Rev Hard Turbo Kit. I was wondering if there is a big difference between the two and if anyone had had experience with these turbo kits? I am also wondering if there is a big difference in spool up with a ball bearing turbo? I just want to know if it is worth the extra money. Thanks.

ball bearing will spool up faster than the conventional bushing turbo. It is more of what you are looking for if you want the turbo to kick in asap away then get bearing. if ur just looking for everyday i can be patient driving then get the normal. also take into consideration the cost a ball bearing will cost significantly more and in some cases you cant really rebuild a bb turbo abd if if can it costs a shitload more than regular. try searching for people with the same question and post something in the forced induction forum as well

I asked that question a few years back at a SEMA show towards a spokesman for Garrett Turbos. He showed me a traditional turbo(journal bearing type) cut out to show the turbine blades and a ball bearing type. When I spun the regular bearing and then spun the ball bearing type, I notice how fast the ball bearing blades move with so little effort compared to the journal bearing type turbo. So to answer your question if you don't mine a little turbo lag the journal bearing aka regular turbo type will be find since a lot of car manufacturer has used them without major problems.
Now if you like little to no lag and can afford the extra money for the ball bearing assuming you have a big turbo, then this will be very beneficial for you. But if you have a little turbo like a Greddy 16G or 18G it would be a waste of money.

Does anyone know how much faster the ball bearing turbo will spool up (in rpms) on a t3/t4 than the regular turbo? Does anyone also have experience with these kits and know how well they spool up?

Yes, the DRAG kit is ball bearing, right? My T3/T04 hits full boost at about 4500 rpms and begins boost at about 2500 I think.
Get a BALL BEARING turbo please unless you enjoy extra lag. Even 1000 rpms of lag throughout your 3rd gear will slow you down quite a bit.

The drag turbo kit from turbo-kits.com is not ball bearing. You can buy the ball bearing turbo but it is $650 more.

Thank you all for your info.

i honestly think that if you're gonna get a ball bearing turbo you should decide what size it should be and not let DRAG decide/limit the choices for you. i would just get the regular drag kit and sell that turbo and use the money to buy a GT ball bearing turbo.

IMO though, bb turbos are too rich for my blood. i'd rather use my money towards a propane injection kit.
