Default Gas Leak 1990 Civic Si

Last night I got into my 1990 Civic Si and the entire interior smelled like gas. I didn't want to start the car and risk a fire so I left it alone. I'm going to check it after I get home from work. Other than the fuel line in the engine bay and gas tank/fuel pump, where else would I check?
Where are the fuel lines that run from the gas tank to the engine bay? Are they routed under the car or in the interior?

It has been below freezing lately, so I'm guessing that maybe my fuel lines had some water in it and a pipe or hose cracked. Any tips on finding the leak is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

the would be my first bet look under the car for the fuel lines and check to see if any of them cracked or blew, if not that then check your fuel lines in the engine bay as well.. but good luck though

If you lift the plastic rocker pannel cover and pull back the carpet in the driver side footwell, you'll see the gas line passes through the inside of the car and will be rusted out there and leaking. It's a common place for the lines to go on those year Hondas...bad place for them to go if you like to smoke in the car!

Oh crap. I hope if that's what it is then I hope that its easy to fix. Is that something costly to fix?

It's easy to get at so you can splice in a new piece of line which isn't expensive.

Before you check all that make sure its not your gas cap. If its old it won't seal all the fumes.

I was worried about a gas leak too untill Dad tells me to change the cap.
Thanks Dad.

I checked the car, but I couldn't get a good look at all the lines. .
There is a bracket bolted on to the door sill trim that uses an odd screw head. I tried turning it with an allen wrench, but it just twisted the wrench.
I checked the gas cap already too. I think it has a good seal because i heard the pressure being released. I don't see how a bad gas cap can make the smell of gas be inside the car when all the windows are closed though.

I'll make an appointment at a car shop.. Maybe they'll have better luck.

When you had the carpet pulled back etc you should have seen or smelled any gas that may have been leaking in that area. If the line was shrouded by fasteners there, the gas smell and dampness should have been a dead give away. Bad gas cap seal won't let fumes into the car, but will allow you to smell it when walking outside the car.

I brought the car to the shop today.
The guys couldn't find any leak. They said that the guy who filled up my take probably overfilled it and some of the overflow went into my car. After the car aired out while driving to the shop, they couldn't smell any gas in the inside. I had them close all the windows and keep the car for a few hours and they said there was no more gas smell.
They checked everything and couldn't find anything. They said that the fuel feeder tubes from the gas tank were new from the last owner. So I guess it may be true that the guy overfilled my tank.
We'll see how it smells in the next few days.

Just an update. The smell of gas dissipated each time the car was aired out.
There is just a faint faint smell of old gas in the car. Sounds like the car shop guys were right about someone overfilling the tank. I made sure to fill up my gas tank in Philly where its self-serve, and ever since then, the smell has been fading away.
