Default Problems With Turbo SH

I got my Turbonetics Turbo Kit installed in Ohio. The place that installed it said that they had to deactivate my ATTS because it would cause detonation. The dyno said the car was only putting out around 197HP after the turbo. I don't think this sounds right.
Also, my shifter seems to have broken. It feels weird when i try to put it in 1 3 or 5th gear, but 2 4 and R work fine.
If anyone could help me I would appreciate it. And also, does anyone know a good shop in the North Chicago/Gurnee area?

you got fucked dude. it would be physically impossible for the atts unit to cause detonation. do a search on atts in the archive and you will come up with a lot of info about it and why it gets unhooked in most cases.

how many pounds are you running? to be honest i think you got totally taken. i would not look into the gurnee area, if anything go to Chicago or Milwaukee

ATTS causing DET? bahaha that's total BS. I'm with Doug, you got screwed.

197 HP after turbo? Some people get that number with a N/A set-up.

Shady shops.

hey, they probably totaly screwed up the ATTS connections. The ATTS recieves a signal from the MAP sensor, they probably messed up some of the wiring. Find another shop... you're getting screwed.... and you should be making a lot more power than that....

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles...

The only shop I know of that's sort of in your area is either Sound Performance who I believe can tune/fix your car (they work on Supras from what I know, but I believe they'd tackle your prelude). The number over there is 630-893-5002 (Larry). There's another shop called Automotosport, but I believe they are DSM only... you could try them anyway - 847-709-0530 (Eric I believe).

Your car should be putting down between 240 and 275 whp at 8.5 psi of boost with the kit (through a stock exhaust even). Can you post the dyno chart for us to look at to see if there's anything obvious?

well.........your atts isn't really going to work past 250whp anyways so i wouldn't worry about that. after about 250whp it gives up. you should be making close to that much. if you really like atts that much you shouldn't put the turbo on, but the atts certainly will not cause detonation. the turbo is way better than atts though........trust me.

as far as the trouble in 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears........I can tell you EXACTLY what is wrong. Your shifter cable is starting to break. Replace it and you'll feel like you have a whole new tranny. Here's a thread of my problem/solution.........

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1125512

I would almost gaurantee you that's what is wrong. If you think about it, the cable kind of bunches up when you push it forward, but when you pull it back it doesn't really have any trouble. good luck.

hey man. I know there is one guy in oakbrook that posts in the prelude forum all the time. I know his shop does performance work. I think he is pretty good. There is also Extreme in Racine. I think they do a pretty good job also. Just post in the prelude forum that you are looking for a good shop in the Chicago area. Im sure u will get many responses.
