4th Gen jumps forward when shifting from Neutral
I have a 92 accord EX auto. When the car is in nuetral, say at a long stop light, then shifted into drive, the car jumps/lurches forward even though the brake is fully pressed. It happenes every time when going from neutal to drive. What's going on?
Normal engine idle when warm is <500. Is that too high? Is there any way to replace engine/tranny mounts without welding in new ones? Meaning could it be the inner bushing/bearnings that could be going?
no welding is required. they are all bolt in. Your Idle is fine. Normal Idle is usually between 500 and 800 rpm. My guess also is your motor mounts. check all 4 mounts to see if there are any cracks in the rubber.
haven't gotten to check 'em out yet, but if there is a crack in the rubber, can just the rubber be replaced or does it take new mounts? Is there anywhere but ebay that you can buy just one specific mount?
Sadly, I just bought front & rear motor mounts for my 91 Honda body with 93 engine (long story).
You CAN buy them at Kragen, alas,
it did not solve my problem of the engine rising when shifting into drive.
(I lifted the hood and watched while a friend shifted it. Looked like a bronco!)
It DID make Kragen happy for about $110 +/- sale... Make sure you get the model with an ECV, (elec. control valve), on the firewall side mount, if your model year needs it. Mine did.
It has 206K+ miles and seems to run fine. I have to seek the Honda Sages to help me in the quest to find engine bliss... Anyone? Anyone? (Hoping for more than echoes of my call) Gotta finish at work now. Will check in later. Thank you to all!

The trans in the accords, automatic of course, from the 4th-6th gens have always known to shift hard and such like that when there is some mileage on them. Now, no, not all of them shift hard. Have to say that before 1,000 people come out and say their's shift completely fine, but yes, they have been known to shift hard, so that may just be a thing with your trans.
How long has it been doing this??
Any other info in the situation.
Check the ATF?? How long since last fluid change?

they shift hard. Its just common both mine do it my dd and my parts car, and the parts car was serviced by the dealership all the time with no expences spared so just kinda deal with it I'm guessing. Unless you want to spend godly ammounts on a rebuilt trans and new torque converter.
