leaking oil from vtec solinoid?? or is it just my cam seal quick response needed!:)
hey guys i have that commin front/dizzy side oil leak that goes down onto my headgasket and front of block/tranny.... most people say its a cam seal.. ive been looking for hours at it and it hink it might be my where my vtec solinoid bolts down into a little piece then the head.... is that possible??? if so... can i just unbolt the solinoid to check it? or are there gaskets/issues i may run into... thanks guys greatly appreciated going into my friends shop in 2 hours to try and fix this..
Those are super easy. Get all of these gaskets if you can't be sure which one is leaking. They're all gonna be hard & brittle, so if you take it off it'll leak.
1 - VTEC solenoid has a triangle flange where it's bolted to the spool valve. Rubber gasket right there.
2 - VTEC oil pressure switch has a little O-ring where it screws into the spool valve.
3 - Spool valve has a gasket where it bolts to the head. That's either a gasket with a separate screen or maybe the screen is built in. (Depends on your VIN.)
4 - Cam plug. You gotta take off the valve cover & the last cam cap...
5 - O-ring for distributor. But that's by itself so maybe you can see whether it's actually leaking there.

Or go to your favorite parts website & put in YOUR year/model...
#14 is like an o-ring & sits in a groove.
#12 same way, sometimes it's molded together with screen #10.
#25 is pressure switch O-ring.
#8 is the cam plug.
